Acting refers to the act of human representation or interpretation of a character within a film. Acting is significant to film production because it can affect what message is trying to be conveyed. It can help the audience what is happening giving certain actions more strength. The elements of acting are actor's appearance, facial expression, body language, vocal qualities, and mannerisms of a character.
An actors appearance is a significant aspect of acting. Whether the actor physically suitable in the role is just as essential as their acting ability. Facial expression conveys an emotion that tells us about the character and the way they react to a situation. Body language is about the way an actor controls their body through gestures, posture, and body contact. Vocal qualities are tone of voice, accent, pace of speech: it is the variations in the way you speak. The way a character says dialogue often is more important than what they are saying. Mannerisms of a character are how a character moves, can be connected to their body language. A confident strut can be connected to a stern facial expression and a stiff posture. Character movements can be jittery, awkward, stiff, fast, meandering, agitated, still or any other of descriptions.
The father, Lee Abbott, in a Quiet Place is played by John Krasinski. In the opening of the film, he is scavenging for supplies in a deserted town with his wife and 3 kids. He is a watchful father, but a tragedy occurs resulting in the death of his youngest son that he was unsuccessful in saving. There are close ups of his facial expressions during serious events. He focuses on his sign language to demonstrate the significance of sign language in the film. The presence of a shotgun and focus on the radio he has in his office.
The mother, Evelyn Abbott, is played by Emily Blunt. In the opening of the film, she is scavenging for any useful resources they can find in a deserted town with her husband and 3 kids. Evenly is pregnant and had to witness the death of her youngest son. Close up of the nail that she's about to step on while making her way down the stairs. Quiet cries and sobs after the pain of stepping on the nail shows although she's in pain she still must be quiet. Her heavy breathing and pained expression when her water broke shows she's in an uncalled for situation.
